Lizzo Volunteers at Australian Food Bank to Help Those Affected by Bushfire Crisis

Lizzo is one of music’s hottest rising stars and influencers. This week while appearing in Australia, the singer took a break from performing to help those affected by the wildfires.

The 31-year-old hit maker spent time volunteering at Melbourne’s Foodbank on Wednesday, helping package food hampers for those who’ve been affected by the devastating fires. 

The Foodbank excitedly posted on Facebook: “We had the one and only Lizzo helping us sort and pack hampers in the warehouse today!,” the Facebook posting read.

The organization is playing a crucial role in the current unprecedented bushfire crisis which is devastating communities across the country. According to their website, the nonprofit is delivering exactly what is needed, when and where it’s needed in order to efficiently and effectively support the relief efforts.

The singer also used her social media platform to share a message. On her Instagram stories , where she labeled the event a “global crisis.”

“I don’t want to politicize anything,” she said. “This isn’t a political issue at this point, this is a human issue. The CO2 emissions that are being created by this fire are staggering and it affects the world.”

Many celebs have rallied around this devastating event. In the music world, Pink, Metallica and Elton John have all given very generous donations ($500,000 $750,000 and $1 million—respectively).
