On Monday, wrestler and actor—John Cena took to social media to talk about the California wildfires.
“I’m asking that today on #FirstRespondersDay we do everything we can to help those who risk their lives to protect us all,” Cena tweeted.
He also announced a personal pledge of $500,000 to respectfully aid the first responders involved.
In his new movie—Playing With Fire, the actor portrays a firefighter and said it “showcases a group of people I believe are heroes — first responders.”
He then called on Paramount, the studio behind his new film, to select a charity which aids first responders.
Paramount quickly took the actor’s offer and listed the two charities it plans to donate the money to:
Cena added, “In times like this, when people are giving their lives and working around the clock what they need from us is resources. This is the right thing to do, and I’m doing my part to help the cause” and ended his message with a plea for everyone to keep safe.
