Tesla CEO—Elon Musk made a commitment back in July to help with the ongoing water crisis in Flint, Michigan.
Recently, he delivered on that promise! Musk donated water systems to both high school and elementary schools in Flint, for a donation totaling $480,000.
The system will remove lead and kill off bacteria for drinking water, allowing students to use drinking fountains and fill up water bottles. The donation also paid for the testing to check for water quality done by an environmental company.
To increase his generosity even more for the students, he also promised Chromebooks for all seventh and eight-graders in the school system.
Superintendent of Flint Community Schools Derrick Lopez thanks Musk in a statement, “We are deeply grateful for the generosity and the budding partnership between Flint Community Schools, the Musk Foundation and Elon Musk. The new water filtration systems will be instrumental in helping our students return to the normalcy of what should be a fundamental right: having access to safe, clean water from water fountains in their school.”
The Tesla CEO responded to the school’s announcement on Twitter. “You’re most welcome. Hope to do more to help in the future,” he wrote.
