The Keys to Giving

It was recently announced that Alicia Keys will host the 61st Annual Grammy Awards this Sunday.

While Keys has a long list of hits and awards: 15 Grammy’s, 11 Top 10 Billboard hits and 17 NAACP Image Awards (just to name a few). There’s one important list that stretches even further. The Philanthropic pianist has supported a whopping 31 charities and foundations to date!

A few notable involvements include being the ambassador for Keep A Child Alive and the spokesperson for Frum The Ground Up. Also the causes range anywhere from adoption to economic/business support.

Her passion for philanthropy is certainly nothing new. Back in 2012 the “Superwoman” songstress stated in a Forbes interview: “There is no age requirement for making a difference. For those of us who have been fortunate to have success early in our careers, we have the opportunity to use that unique platform…But I also believe that you don’t just have to be a celebrity or wealthy to be affected by an issue and want to do something about it!”

Alicia’s platform and talent will be used in a different way on Sunday. Although this is her first time hosting the grand event, this isn’t her first big step from behind the piano. In addition to being a wife and mother, she’s also an accomplished actress and a New York Times best-selling author.

In a statement posted by Billboard, she shared: “I’m so excited to be the master of ceremonies on the biggest night in music and celebrate the creativity, power and magic.”

The 2019 Grammys will broadcast live from Los Angeles’ Staples Center on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019, airing on CBS beginning at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
